In order to prevent the Third Punic war Roman legions were sent to Africa with orders to attack the rival city itself. There were still feats that Carthage might rise and pose a threat once more. All Carthaginian remnants were swept away from the continent, though that did not calm the Senate of Rome. Yet at that time Rome had already achieved dominance in Europe and managed to claim victory once more. Seeing this, Rome responded and a territory grabbing began ultimately resulting in the Second Punic War. Its attention became focused on the Spanish peninsula. However, the Carthaginians were not prepared to lose their world dominance just like that. The First Punic war started during which Carthage lost its advantage and was forced to withdraw from Sicily, Corsica and Sardinia. An army was prepared and sent under a false pretext to Sicily. Seeing the power and influence of Carthage the Senate of Rome decided that something should be done. The Romans soon decided openly to challenge their Carthaginian rivals. The city of Rome too had begun to gain strength. However, another Empire was also on the rise.

Goods, gold and slaves poured in to the majestic city – the source of its might.Ĭountless mercenaries armies were constantly bought to ensure that all who threatened Carthage or its interest would be dealt with. With trade routes throughout the entire Mediterranean there the was no other nation to dispute its strength. The useful interface and variable difficulty make this a great title for new players to sink their teeth into this addicting genre and has enough depth to attract more hard-core fans.In the height of its glory Carthage was the greatest power in the ancient world. With two lengthy campaigns, a robust skirmish mode, and online multiplayer options, there are hours upon hours of playtime to be had. Overall, Nemesis of the Roman Empire provides a fun and entertaining RTS experience that has enough variety and unique gameplay elements to make you want to keep playing. For instance, there are times where half your army will attack nearby enemies while the rest sit idly by only a few feet away which was frustrating. The only real issue is with large armies and some problems in controlling them. Also, the cutscenes are rather simplistic and the text boxes do little to draw you into the story. The graphics do seem a little dated and the units have somewhat awkward walking motions. There aren't too many problems with Nemesis, at least ones that affect the gameplay.
